On behalf of industry clients, COSCO assists management to understand their distinctive competencies and to hone their business plans. In contrast to almost every other intermediary currently in the market, because the majority of COSCO’s personnel first had careers in the oil and gas industry before joining it, COSCO is in position to understand its industry clients as insiders and to add strategic value at all stages of development. Based now on the thousands of business plans it has seen and the hundreds of clients with which it has worked, COSCO believes its primary contribution is in assisting clients to focus on adding value for its shareholders and, thus, for its management teams.
In the area of finance, COSCO assists industry clients first and foremost to understand and present clearly their own stories, particularly in contrast to their peers. COSCO also assists them to understand their values in the private capital marketplace, to structure private financings for both equity and debt, and then, through its broker-dealer affiliate, to carry them out. COSCO also works with its industry clients to prepare for and complete mergers and acquisitions, to divest individual assets or subsidiaries, and to monetize stock held by stranded stockholders. All of COSCO’s Managing Directors have experience with issues of family succession, and, therefore, COSCO regularly works with family-owned companies to assist in strategic planning and execution. COSCO also advises on capital formation and structure, investment policy, and management issues.
