COSCO Private Capital for Energy Forums

Since 1997, COSCO each year has sponsored conferences focused on private capital available for the energy business. In 1997, it initiated and hosted the first IPAA Private Capital for Energy Conference in New York, as well as organizing and hosting the second in 1998. In 1999, COSCO moved the Forum to Houston and the following year launched a comparable Forum in Calgary. Through much of the next decade, COSCO produced the COSCO Private Capital for Energy Forum in Calgary every other year in late February, while the Houston Forum was scheduled annually during the first week of June.

The Forums were an integral part of COSCO's effort to educate the energy industry about private capital and thus to expand its appetite and aptitude for this form of financing. Altogether, over 75 Private Capital Providers participated in these COSCO Forums, some many times, and another 68 industry beneficiaries of Private Capital testified to what it was like as a partner.

In December 2007, COSCO agreed to sell the Houston based COSCO Forum to Oil and Gas Investor, with which it had co-hosted the subject Forum from its inception. COSCO will remain active as a sponsor of future editions of the Forum and as moderator on all panels dealing with Private Capital.
